Chamberlain became an incorporated village on January 31, 1911. It lies in the Rural Municipality of Sarnia No. 221, in south-central Saskatchewan.
Today the village is best known for its place on Highway 11, the Louis Riel Trail. It is the last community between Regina and Saskatoon that the highway still runs through. Every other community along the route has been bypassed by a realignment. Here the road narrows to two lanes and the speed limit drops from 110 km/h to 50 km/h, so traffic slows down as it passes. A number of small restaurants and gas stations benefit from that slower flow of travellers.
Chamberlain is about half an hour's drive from Moose Jaw, an hour from Regina and an hour and a half from Saskatoon.
